Mother's Day is on Sunday. Since we've been away from school, we have been unable to create Mother's Day gifts this year. Here are a couple of ideas you can try for Mother's Day this year (maybe have dad or an older sibling help put this together for mom, or grandma).
1) Mother's Day Scavenger Hunt 2) Mother's Day Questionnaire Happy Mother's Day! :) Blessings, Ms. Barker

Hello preschool families,
It is hard to believe that we only have one more week of preschool after this week! Time flies!!!! Please read through this week's post carefully. There is a lot of important information here. Thanks! Spring Conferences: If you have not done so already, please sign up for a virtual spring conference here. I would still like to meet with each and every one of you to discuss your child's progress, set goals for the summer, and answer any questions you may have. Please sign up at your earliest convenience. After you sign up, I will send you a Zoom invitation with the details you will need for your child's virtual conference. YouTube Channel: You may have noticed a new section on our classroom YouTube channel--numbers! Please do not feel obligated to watch every single video. I am trying to include a variety so that your child can watch the videos of the skills he needs to work on! I will continue adding videos throughout the summer to help you and your child accomplish the goals we set at conferences! You can find our class YouTube channel here. Spring Pictures: If you ordered spring pictures, you can pick them up Wednesday evening during the appreciation parade! Details were sent out by Mr. Bickel this week. Please read it if you have not already done so. Important Email from Mr. Bickel: Again, if you have not already read Mr. Bickel's email, I encourage you to do. I am also including it and the attachments here for your convenience. Email, PTO plan, appreciation parade. Seesaw: This week's assignments have been added to Seesaw. Please try to complete at least 5 this week if you can. Remember, any post can count as an assignment! You do not have to do the ones I assign. Please pick and choose what activities work best for you and your family. Thank You: I also would like to give a big shout out to YOU! You have been a big help in your child's learning and growth these past few weeks! Thank you for helping me teach your child while we have been away from school. This could not be done without you! Additional Activities You Can Try: If you are interested or looking for other things to do, consider the following:
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, let me know! Blessings, Ms. Barker Hello Preschool Families!
I hope you are all doing well. I miss seeing you at school each day. We only have a few more weeks left this school year. I know some of you might be wondering about preschool graduation. We are currently exploring options for what we can do and how we could make it work. As soon as we have something figured out, I will let you know! Seesaw: New activities have been added to Seesaw for the week. Please try to submit at least 5 posts this week, if possible. Remember, posts can be in response to assigned activities on Seesaw, worksheets that your child complete (that were sent home or that you bought/printed), optional activities listed on here, or any other activities your child completes this week! YouTube Channel: If you have not done so already, please check out my YouTube channel. I am posting Bible lessons, read alouds, and letter review lessons. This week, I will also be adding a read aloud that corresponds with one of the assigned activities on Seesaw. Please don't feel obligated to watch every single video. Pick and choose videos based on your child's interest level and engagement. Zoom Share Circle Meetings: We will continue with our Zoom share circle meetings again this week. I will send out an email shortly with the details you will need to join our meeting. Now that we are doing an activity on the dry erase board each meeting, your child can copy this down on a dry erase board or piece of paper at home! If your child would like to do this, please join the meeting with these materials ready. Parent Teacher Conferences: We will be doing video conferences via Zoom. I will post a sign up sheet later this week. Once you select a time, I will send you an invitation via Zoom for the conferences. Because Zoom can be a little slow to get working, I will have a ten minute break between each conference to ensure that we stay on time. Additional Resources/Activities:
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Blessings, Ms. Barker Hello Preschool Families,
I hope you enjoyed your spring break! We will be continuing remote learning this week. Seesaw: This week's assignments have been posted to Seesaw. I included 11 this week because I've noticed that some of you have been flying through assignments and wanted to provide you with more options in case you're interested. You still only need to choose 5 to complete this week. Please submit whatever you are able to. Some submissions are better than none. I am using this information to enter into TS GOLD so that we have data to discuss at conferences. Also, if you child is on scholarship, then submitting assignments is extra important. I am required to show the scholarship committee that learning is still taking place. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please reach out to me right away. Bible Lessons: These will be posted to YouTube by tomorrow at the latest. I will email you as soon as they are available for viewing. Zoom Share Circle Meetings: We will be having our Zoom share circle meetings again this week. I will send out an email later today with the information you will need to join the meeting. The share circle will look a little different this time. After everyone has had a chance to share once, we will pause so that I can ask the class a question. Students will help me sound out the words for the question as I write it on the board. If you are available during this time to help unmute your child, that would be helpful. If not, then I can walk back to the computer to unmute your child if he/she has an answer. After we write the question, each child will be given the opportunity to answer the question. Then, we will count how many answered in each category. Finally, we will talk about which answer has the most and which has the least. Then, we will continue with each child's second turn in the share circle. This activity will allow us to hit both literacy and math standards while we are meeting together via Zoom. Additional Ideas for This Week: In case you are looking for some ways you can stay busy at home, here are a few other ideas you could try:
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Blessings, Ms. Barker No assignments this week. Feel free to do any previous assignments you haven’t tried or to post in the journal any fun or academic activities you do this week. Enjoy your spring break. :)
I will log into Seesaw at least once daily to go over submissions in case you have any missing assignments you'd like to get caught up on. New assignments will be posted next week! Blessings, Ms Barker Hello Preschool Families!
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy at home right now. Seesaw: Seesaw assignments for the week will be posted this morning. Please do your best to submit 5 posts for the week. If you'd like to submit more, that is great! We will not have any assignments next week (scheduled spring break), but you may use this time to get caught up on any past assignments or you can submit extras during this time if you choose. I'll try to log in at least once a day to check submissions over break. Parent Teacher Conferences: With schools being closed through April now, it is looking more and more likely that we will doing parent teacher conferences via video chat. I will make my final decision the last week of April and send out necessary sign up sheets at that time. Weekly Bible Lessons: Weekly Bible lessons can be found on my YouTube channel. The videos are fairly short (most only a couple minutes long and almost all under five minutes). You can also choose to subscribe to my channel and then you'll be updated for each new video. Zoom Share Circles: We will be conducting Zoom Share Circles again this week for each of the classes. They will be the same day of week/time as the previous two. An email will be sent out later today with details for joining these meetings. These meetings are completely optional, but they do help the students remain connected during this time apart. If you are able to make the meeting, I would highly recommend giving it a try. Important Note: If you have not already done so, please inform me of if you would like your child's seesaw posts shared with his/her class or not. Currently, your child's posts are visible only to the teacher and you. If you'd like me to share them with the rest of the class, I will, but I will need your permission. Sharing them with the class allows classmates to like and comment on the posts. This is another way for students to stay connected while we are not in the classroom. Activities/Resources to Consider this Week: If you're looking for some ideas to stay entertained this week, I have a few more ideas for you!
I hope you enjoy these activities! Feel free to post any of the fun activities you choose to do to Seesaw to share with the class! Blessings, Ms. Barker Hello Preschool Families,
I hope all is well with you and your families. I miss seeing each and every one of you at school. I hope you are still finding time to learn at home and are finding time to spend together as a family. Please continue to share your work on Seesaw. This provides me with valuable information for TS GOLD so that I can still see how your child is progressing while we are apart. The more posts you do, the more data I will have when we have conferences later. If you are having any issues with the app please let me know so that I can do my best to help you. If you need a new access code, please email me so that I can send it to you right away. I truly appreciate you taking the time to work with your child. We couldn’t do remote learning in preschool without your help. So, thank you. I will be adding more activities to Seesaw for your child to complete this week. Please try to submit 5 posts if possible for the week. If your posts are only appearing as “drafts” please let me know so that I know to search for them. I do not receive notifications for drafts, but can find them if I know to look. We will be hosting another share circle for each of the classes again this week. The share circles will be the same time as last week’s. I will send out emails tomorrow with details for how to log in to the meeting. I was able to fix my microphone so hopefully you will be able to hear me more clearly this time. I stumbled across some more resources that you might find helpful:
If you are looking for additional ideas to stay entertained/busy this week, consider the following:
I hope you find some of these ideas helpful! Please feel free to upload any of these activities or any that you come up with on seesaw for everyone to see! Remember, your child’s posts are private (visible only to you) unless you give me permission to resubmit them and share with the rest of the class. Many students like seeing each other’s posts. It helps them to stay connected and motivate them to continue to participate. If you’d like me to share your child’s posts, please comment on a post on seesaw or email me to let me know that I have your permission. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Blessings, Ms. Barker Routines are very important for children, particular preschoolers. Changes in these routines can be stressful for young children. One way you can help your child adjust to staying at home right now is to set up a daily schedule or routine.
First, consider what activities you want to include in your child’s routine. Be sure to provide your child with some time for free play. This is important for preschoolers so that your child can learn to entertain himself, plan and pursue a variety of activities, and stay engaged in a task over a period of time. It is okay for your child to be bored sometimes. This will allow your child to feel comfortable with that feeling. Some activities you might want to consider including: school work, outside play, free play, creative time, educational experiences with technology, chores, family time, devotion, story time, or cooking. I will put together a few sample schedules for you to consider. Pick and choose what works best for you and your family. Sample Schedule 1: 8:00 Wake Up 8:30 Breakfast 9:00 Get Ready 9:30 Devotion (could use Pastor Jud's daily video devotions) 9:45 School Work 10:15 Free Play 12:00 Lunch 12:30 Creative Time 1:00 Educational Experiences with Technology (videos, games, etc.) 2:00 Outside Play 3:00 School Work 3:30 Free Play 5:30 Chores 6:00 Dinner 6:30 Family Time 7:30 Story Time 8:00 Get Ready for Bed Sample Schedule 2: 7:00 Wake Up 7:30 Breakfast 8:00 Get Ready 8:30 Devotion 8:45 Creative Time 9:30 School Work 10:00 Free Play 12:00 Lunch 12:30 Chores 1:00 Outside Play 2:00 Educational Experiences with Technology 3:00 School Work 3:30 Free Play 5:30 Story Time 6:00 Dinner 6:30 Family Time 7:30 Get Ready for Bed Again, choose what schedule works best for you and your family. It does not need to be exactly like mine. You can even type it up or write it on a piece of paper to hang up in your house for your child to see. That way, your child knows what to expect. Do your best to follow the schedule throughout the day. This will help your child to feel more secure throughout all of these changes. If you’d like, you can even share a picture of your schedule on seesaw! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Blessings, Ms. Barker Hello Preschool Families,
I hope all is well with each of you. I have very much enjoyed the posts on Seesaw from the children so far. It makes me smile to see pictures and videos of them even while we are away from each other right now. Not only does it provide me with valuable information to track your child's progress, but it also helps to keep our class connected while we are practicing social distance for the time being. Another way to help bridge this connection is to share your child's posts with the rest of the students in your child's class. To do this, simply comment on one of the posts or email me to let me know that you are okay with me copying your child's posts and making them visible to the other students in the class. It is up to you if you want all posts shared or only some. So please be sure to let me know your preferences! Once I share the posts, then you can like and comment on each other's submissions. I'm hoping this will encourage children to continue learning at home and also help them to still feel connected in some way while we are apart. Additionally, I want to start a weekly share circle with each of the classes while we are gone. We will do this through Zoom during your child's regular class time. I will send out emails with your child's meeting time and the information you will need to join the meeting. During our share circle, we will take turns talking about anything that we want. This will be another way for us to stay connected. It will also be great language practice for your child. This week, we will also be starting Bible lessons. The videos will air at 8:15 AM tomorrow. You can find them on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOgxGkv5AQXPtAplu2GHrgA There will be 3 videos that will upload tomorrow morning. I will add a 4th video later in the week. Please watch these videos with your child. In some, I will also add an activity for you to do together after watching. Additionally, you can also choose to watch Pastor Jud's daily devotion for children, which can be found on his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/4monkeys. I hope that you will find these resources useful in the upcoming weeks. I will be posting some new activities to Seesaw for you and your child to work on this week. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding the activities or the use of the app. I'm here to help. In case you are looking for other ways to stay entertained/busy during this time, here are a few other suggestions:
Hello Preschool Families, I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying your extra time together at home. I will be posting on here weekly over these next few weeks to communicate ideas for what you and your child can do together at home to enhance learning. We will also be using an app called SeeSaw for you to upload documentation (videos, photos, voice recordings, etc.) of your child's learning during this time. These uploads will allow me to continue to gather data for your child so that I can provided you with a clearer picture of where your child is at academically during parent teacher conferences. The more information you give me, the more accurate goals I'll be able to set for you and your child to work on over the summer. I will be available via email everyday from 9 AM - 3 PM and will respond as quickly as I am able. Outside of these hours, I might not respond as quickly, but I will still respond regularly. After 10 PM, I will no longer respond until 9 AM the next morning. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns during this time. These next few weeks will be different and we will get through them together. Thank you so much for all of your help with continuing learning at home with your child! Tip: If the sheet protector I provided is not sturdy enough, you can also use your child's class folder instead. Simply slide the paper inside of the clear part of the outside of the blue folder. Then, your child should be able to use a dry erase marker to complete the worksheet. Wipe the clear section off with a tissue when your child is finished. You can pull out the page and slide in a new one to do next. This will allow your child to practice these pages more than once. Feel free to upload any of these pictures to your child's SeeSaw portfolio to demonstrate your child's progress over these next few weeks! Some important notes about SeeSaw:
Parent Teacher Conferences: The way things are progressing, I don't believe we will be able to continue with in-person parent teacher conferences at this time. I would like to push conferences back until the end of April/beginning of May to see where we are at. If we are able to meet in person, then I will set up a new sign up sheet for in person conferences. Otherwise, we will do video conferences instead. I will be sure to keep you updated on this as things progress. How to Explain Corona-virus to Your Child: Please read this post by Kim Marxhausen on how to address the corona-virus topic with your preschooler. Additional Activities You Can Try:
